Whale Watching

Migration of the Pacific Gray whale happens every March, bringing thousand of whales by our coastline.

Ucluelet offers a wide range of tours. See whales, sea lions, bears and eagles while exploring the  Broken Group Islands in the Barkley Sound.

Wild Pacific Trail

Goes along our rugged Pacific Coastline. Take in the Amphilrite Point Light house, walking east enjoy the view of the Broken Group Island in the Barkley Sound. Watch the waves pound the coastline. Looking south and west see the open space of the Pacific Ocean.  This trail is great for storm watching, sit on one of many benches to watch the sunrise or sunset.

Surfing

Come and experience Canada’s best surfing on on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. There are many delightful beaches of sand and surf. The West Coast has surf year-round.  There are many local surf shops, in Ucluelet, that offer surf camps, daily lessons and rentals.

Kayaking

Situated on a peninsula on the edge of Barkley Sound, completely surrounded by water makes Ucluelet the sea kayakers’ paradise. You can bring your own kayaks or rent them in town or join the guided kayaking adventure tour.

There is plenty to discover in the Ucluelet Harbour by kayak.  Learn about the history, culture, and industry of this working harbour.  Watch harbour seals, sea lions, eagles, bears and sometimes whales too!  The harbour offers calm and sheltered waters, an exciting experience for those who love exploration, and is great for kayakers of all skill levels.
